Welcome...

The Country Register of Arizona is published every two months. Each issue contains a large variety of feature stories, press releases and items of interest. In addition, we "theme" each issue and give special attention to the theme in the way of extra articles and often the art work on the front cover.

The themes rotate on a yearly basis with our February-March issue being our Annual Quilting and Needlework issue. This coincides with the big quilt show held in Phoenix each spring.

Another well loved theme is our Annual Tea and Food Issue in April-May. The last three years it has been printed in time to be on display at World Tea Expo which was held in Las Vegas the end of March. Tea time fits in very well for Mother's Day also.

Our June-July issue is about Scrapbooking, Stamping, Paper Arts and other Summer Time Fun. It is the time of year our readers head to the mountains and enjoy knowing about places to vist and things to do outside of their area. They also like ideas for projects to do while the Arizona sun keeps them indoors during the heat of the day.

August-September we focus on Antiques and Collectibles. In Arizona we have a sister publication, The Antique Register, which is printed on alternate months of The Country Register. Most every antique and collectible shop in Arizona advertises in it and a good number of them advertise in The Country Register as well.

October-November is the biggest issue of the year and focuses on special fall and winter events, arts and craft shows and crafters. The Country Register is designed to find crafters to participate in these events as well as those who attend as a customer.

In our Annual holiday issue in November-December we bring attention to the wonderful gift shops and holiday fun.

The fall of 2007 starts the beginning of our 20th year of The Country Register of Arizona serving to promote specialty shopping and events.

As a publisher I still get excited about each issue we produce, even after eighteen years. It is always a challenge to sell ads, write stories, find art work for our front covers, and get the paper laid out in a way that will make for an easy read and a great guide for our loyal readership. After we get thousands of papers delivered on pallets and bound in 50's for distribution we immediately start that process. Some papers get shipped but many of them get delivered in person. It is always heart warming to see people anxious for the new edition.

Our most dreaded moment comes after delivery when someone discovers an error. They are never made intentionally and usually aren't fatal. It always makes me aware of mistakes in other publications and so have come to know that it happens in all printed matter quite regularly! Not that this gives us an excuse but we know we aren't the first to make a typo nor the last.

We hope you enjoy each issue and pick up an extra to share with a friend, a neighbor, or relative. Subscriptions are a nice gift to someone who cannot get out and about to pick up a paper at one of the advertisers.

Who would not want to know where the best shops in their state are!

Spring is in the air . . . . .

Or, we would like to make ourselves believe it is! With the cold and unusually wet winter here in the sunny Southwest, my thoughts have been on some sun drenched island lately.

But, one thing we can count on in Arizona is a lot os sun, very soon, and a very warm summer so we will just sit back and enjoy whatever the weather man brings us. At least in the Valley of the Sun, it is not snow banks and icy roads.

It is a great time to get out and shop the shops. They will be decked out for Valentines and St. Patrick's Day right now with Easter bunnies as well. There will be flowers and garden themed decor and I guess that means I should go take down my snowman flag.
