There’s plenty of good holiday news right here!

Here we are with our next Presidential election before us. The American people will decide who the 44th President of the United States of America will be on Tuesday, November 4. I think we are all looking forward to a new chapter - no matter who wins this election. There will likely be a bump in the mood of the American people once the presidential election is over, and for many families and small businesses, it couldn’t come at a better time. It wears on all of us to turn on the radio, TV, or pick up our favorite daily or weekly newspaper and continually hear negative economic news from financial markets around the world.

It’s often hard to make sense of how that news really affects our daily lives here in Wisconsin, and for many of you who have picked this issue up, you might not have noticed much different on your main street - in spite of the challenges facing the gang on Wall Street.

Here in what some call the midwest, others the heartland, we usually maintain a more moderate swing in the ups-and-downs than you hear reported in the national news. We think that’s one of the great reasons to live here, work here, raise a family here and, of course, to shop here!

We’ve got some things in this issue to help you put politics and the nightly news right out of your mind. The scary halloween season is over, and the holiday season featuring Thanksgiving and Christmas is upon us - and the merchants who choose to reach you through The Country Register Of Wisconsin are ready for it.
Let’s face it: our lives get busier and busier the closer to Christmas we get, so it’s always great to have someone give us new, fresh and exciting ideas for holiday gift-giving. You’ve come to the right place.

In the pages of this issue, our devoted advertisers have LOTS of great Christmas giving ideas for you. And don’t forget to check out the statewide Schedule of Events on page 3. There are many specials and special events coming up that you won’t want to miss! Remember, tell the advertisers you saw there ad and events listed in The Country Register when you stop in. That way, they’ll know where to reach you again the next time!

A fun addition to this edition is a Second Wind Country Inn Bed & Breakfast giveaway for a northwoods getaway and sleigh ride. Check out the details on page 26 of this issue. Be sure to enter!
We’d also like to thank all of you who entered our give-aways over the last two months. It’s interesting to read the feedback we’ve received, and we get quite a few entry forms for every contest. Watch for more fun things in upcoming issues.

From our family to yours, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year.
